Culvert Cleaning and Drainage Solutions for Counties, Cities, and Commercial Sites

Supreme Enterprises LLC provides culvert cleaning, ditch cleanout, and drainage work for county road departments, city public works, utilities, and commercial sites across Western Kentucky. We’re based in Benton, near Paducah, and we bring operated equipment to every job, including our long reach excavator. Supreme Enterprises is licensed, insured, and bonded.

Why blocked culverts and ditches matter

A culvert only works if water can get in one end and out the other. Sediment, brush, trash, and storm debris pile up at the inlets and outlets and along the ditch, and eventually the next heavy rain has nowhere to go.

Then the problems start. Water runs over roads and parking areas and onto nearby property. Shoulders, ditch banks, and road base wash out. Standing water soaks into the pavement and the ground underneath it. At the outlet, water that leaves the pipe too fast or in the wrong direction starts eating away at the ditch.

Cleaning culverts on a regular schedule keeps water going where it was designed to go. It’s a lot easier than rebuilding a road after a washout.

Culvert cleaning services and drainage work

Culvert inlet and outlet cleanout

We dig out sediment, debris, and vegetation at the inlet and outlet so the pipe can carry its full flow again. Our culvert cleaning services open up both ends and clear the approach, so water actually reaches the culvert.

Ditch and channel cleaning

Roadside ditches and drainage channels fill in over time. We clean them back to a working shape so they move water away from the road and toward the outlet instead of holding it.

Sediment and debris removal

Storms leave a lot behind, and so do ordinary seasons. We dig out what’s built up in ditches, in channels, and at structures, then haul it off or place it wherever the job calls for.

Outlet protection

Water coming out of a culvert can scour the ditch and undercut the banks. We protect the outlet so the flow leaves the pipe without tearing up the ground around it.

Drainage regrading

Sometimes the ditch is clean and the grade is still wrong. We regrade ditch lines and drainage paths so water drains instead of pooling.

Equipment we use

The long reach excavator gets to culvert inlets, wide ditches, and channels from the shoulder or the top of the bank, so the machine stays out of the water. See our long reach excavator service. Our excavators handle ditch cleanout, regrading, and outlet work, and dump trucks haul the sediment and debris away.

Planning a maintenance cycle

Keeping culverts and ditches working is easier than fixing them after they fail. A simple cycle goes a long way for road departments and site managers.

1

Walk or drive the system and note the culverts and ditch sections with buildup, standing water, or erosion.

2

Put the locations that threaten roads, traffic, or structures at the top of the list. The ones showing early trouble come next.

3

Clean out the priority culverts and ditches before the wet months, so the system has its full capacity when heavy rain shows up.

4

Check again after big storms. They move a lot of material, and a quick look catches new blockages before they do damage.

If you have a list of culvert and ditch locations, we can work through it with you and schedule the cleanout around your season.

Outlet protection with riprap

At a lot of culverts, the best outlet protection is a stone apron placed right, which slows the water and spreads it out before it hits the ditch. Here’s more on how riprap at culvert outlets helps control erosion.

Equipment available with an operator

Every machine we bring to a drainage job comes with a trained Supreme operator. If your own drainage crew needs a machine and an operator, see our equipment rental with operator options.

A commercial drainage contractor too

Drainage problems aren’t limited to public roads. As a commercial drainage contractor, we clean culverts and ditches, remove sediment, and regrade drainage paths on commercial properties, industrial sites, and large lots. For home and small property drainage like French drains and yard drainage, see our drainage installation services.

Frequently asked questions

Culvert cleaning means removing sediment, debris, and vegetation from a culvert’s inlet, outlet, and approach so water can flow through the pipe at full capacity. Supreme Enterprises cleans culverts and the ditches that feed them for counties, cities, and commercial sites across Western Kentucky, using operated equipment.

It depends on the site. A culvert in a ditch that collects sediment, brush, or storm debris needs attention more often than one in a stable, grassed channel. A good habit is to inspect the system every year, clean the priority spots before storm season, and check again after big storms.

Often, yes. Our long reach excavator can reach culvert inlets, outlets, and wide ditches from the road shoulder or the top of the bank. That keeps the machine out of the water and limits damage to the ditch banks.
